I took the lead of Culture Trip’s content and editorial teams just after their numbers had been cut from 100 to 30. The team was bruised, nervous, lacked clarity, and found that old ways of working had been broken by the cuts.

I quickly established a clear leadership team, encouraging them to talk openly with their directs. I drove a culture of compassionate leadership, fixing problems fast, and ensuring everyone had what they needed to succeed.

In my 14 months, output tripled despite reduced resource, we made record sales, and we logged our highest ever employee engagement scores.
